I have an animation in an fbx file type, but its file size is too large to push to github. Does anyone know how to compress the file, or convert it to a file type that is less space demanding?

If it is a static model you could maybe cut it in half and render both if there is a size limit per file

You can try and use an online compression website, but if that doesn't work you can also make the textures for your 3d model a smaller size like a jpg, or you can also make the 3d model smaller too, aka: less polygons, things like that

When exporting your animation, look for an option to enable binary compression. This can significantly reduce the file size.
