I'm just curious what are some of the challenges that you all have faced while doing your projects this semester? Whether It is within the projects themselves or just the semester in general?

Being a senior in my final semester...

For me, I think this semester in general was just tough in a lot of different ways. I had some external issues earlier this semester that affected some aspects of this class as a side effect, but also deciding to learn new technologies has proven difficult too. I think ultimately being able to overcome everything will help me out in the future, but this semester (and this past year really) have not been easy for anyone I think.

I'd say that the difficulty for me is that sometimes we have questions that could be answered within seconds by an experienced developer but we ended up spending hours trying to figure that out on our own.

This lack of experience might be covered in a professional environment where there are senior developers who have more experience. Even though we work as a team, we are somewhat new and unfamiliar with the technology we are using so the code could be hard and take time.

Doing this online has definitely been dificult, being in person definitely just has a different sort of vibe when you're with others in person. Plus pair programming online is extremely difficult efficiently, especially when a lot of our group is relying on tutorials for some concepts.

I think a hybrid version of the SI offered a ton of problems that other senior classes didn't face. Without each member of a group have a certain schedule, it was often hard to schedule meeting times outside of class. I think the community of seniors being able to help each other in the computer labs or the rat room is a key factor of this course that we missed out on.

I relate to what Tiffany said. It is tough to learn and work through bugs when you are learning a language for the first time. Having someone who is experienced working alongside would help in both teaching tricks and tips but also navigate and narrow your issues down. There have been many times that I have spent far too long working on something fairly simple in retrospect.

The biggest challenge I faced with my project is with picking an idea to begin with. I wanted to do so many things but I could only choose one. Also I think learning a new language would have been better in person than remote.

For me, it takes a long time to learn each new feature or function of React. For example, reduce is a cool function. I also usually find me got stuck by the bug in the code. It is really difficult to find the bug by yourself so pair programming helps a lot debug. I think these challenges help me gain many experiences.

The biggest challenge I faced with my project was creating the classes. To be more specific, knowing what classes to use in my project since I could do it all in different functions. I also find classes to be more complicated and confusing therefore that was my biggest challenge.

Staying motivated has been pretty tough. Senioritis hit me pretty hard, but we're still out here grinding

For this semester some of the most challenging aspects of it was having it being remote, I believe that I could have learned so much more intuitively by having an instructor in person. regardless I did and still do enjoy this course and everything it has offered.

Pretty much not being able to do our tasks together in person and having to learn a new language.

The biggest challenge to me is laziness

It's been pretty tough taking both of my senior classes this term. Unfortunately my French SI is a lot less enjoyable than working on my team project (I'm actually procrastinating finishing my dissertation right now so I can write this)
Otherwise the semester has been okay. It's been busy, at times exhausting, and recently nostalgic; I'm excited to finish everything up. (Except my French SI)
