I'm just wondering... does some computer science person really love snakes?

The creator, Guido van Rossum, was reading "Monty Python's flying circus" while creating the program and decided that Python would be a good short and catchy name for his program.

It's named after the show "Monty Pythons Flying Circus" the creator just liked the name of the show and he thought it would be unique for the language.

It is named Python after the famous "Monty Python" comedy show from back in the day.

It was created by Guido van Rossum and when he began implementing python he was also reading published scripts from "Monty Python's Flying Circus" which was a BBC comedy series from 1970 and then he needed a shot unique name and slightly mysterious, so he decided to name the language Python!

Python is named after the comedy tv series called Monty Python's Flying circus. The show is a show that is full of surprises, creative, random and talks about everything. So the creator wanted to give his program a unique and short name and decided to name it after Monty Python's Flying Circus.
