I know we can set the turtles to face the mouse, and then move them forwards (or backwards). However, in my particle simulation when I did this it made it run very poorly, and I would definitely prefer to have a fast, smooth looking animation. Is there anyway to do this with less of a performance impact?

Curious -- I'm not sure why that is. Are you using "tick-based" display updates, or "continuous", and does that matter?

What we did in class today is actually exactly what I needed, so question answered!

I believe we covered something like this during class today, so I would suggest just converting the animation into an mp4 so it can move more smoothly.

agreed. Thank you, Peyton

If the movement seems slow, maybe you could try increasing the forward distance the turtles travel.
