CRCs - Cyclic Redundancy Checks
MACs - Message Authentication Codes
IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer
WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy
WPA - Wifi Protected Access
ARQ - Automatic Repeat Query (Automatic Repair Request)
NAT - Network Address Translation
HTTP - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
DNS - Domain Name System
DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
IoT - Internet of Things
The HTTP acronym is [edit: **was**] wrong: it's "HyperText Transfer Protocol"
Also, note that MAC can also stand for Media Access Control (as in "MAC addresses"). That's more common than the "Message Authentication Codes" acronym.
That is MACs not MAC
Isn't WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy?
Anh -- indeed it is... another error!
Yes, that is my fault.
Also, NAT is generally "Network Address Translation" (but "Translator" is very close to the same thing).
And technically ARQ stands for "Automatic Repeat reQuest". (Yes, it's weird, but somebody named it that way...)
Oh well -- it's generally more important for people to learn what these things are useful for, rather than memorizing the exact names...
(Although I see somewhere it says "also known as automatic repeat query, so you could be right too!)
