As the title mentioned, I think this is very unfair because the hiring process should consider only the ability and potential of applicants but not how they live.

I think it would be okay for recruiters to look at public profiles of their prospective employees. It is more about whether or not the job hunters want to share sensitive information on their social media because it would harm them if they do.
