Swedish History

I find it interesting how Moline had an entire newspaper in Swedish. I guess Moline had a pretty big Swedish population back in the day.

Yeah, I definitely didn't expect such a vast number of Swedes to have lived way out here. I know the Quad Cities and surrounding areas have a large number of people with German heritage. You can see local German shops (Katy's in Moline) and the Heritage Center (in Davenport) around here, and many people will tell you about their German ancestry as well. It's cool knowing where people or the recent generations before them are from, yet we don't see most of those languages in mass production anymore.

We could relate our Hispanic population currently. Second to English, Spanish is one of our most common languages we hear in the QC due to the large Hispanic population, so some things never change in one way but do in others!
