For example:

public static void main(String[] args)

Void is the return type, and being a "void" type means it returns no value back after running it.
    Edit: Meaning that, it will execute statements such as," System.out.println(); ", and the program will not work without " void ". This is because " System.out.println(); " is a method with no return values, it simply prints what was typed in. Added this for a better example and definition of " void " from a student's view.

- I've already worked in Java before with the program, DrJava.
